Break The Cycle 200: Minneapolis

What is Break The Cycle 200?

BTC 200: Minneapolis, of Hope for Justice, which uses, 100 and 200-mile, one-day, peloton-style, cycling events and other endurance activities to raise awareness and funds to help change lives and end modern slavery.

This year Break the Cycle 200 will be collaborating with partner Gritty Goose, a gravel biking event taking place on Saturday, August 5, with 35-mile, 50-mile, and 70-mile routes!

What does this mean?!

You can ride 200 or 100 miles in the BTC 200 event on Friday, August 5, on your road bike OR choose a route in the Gritty Goose Gravel Grinder on Saturday, August 6, and STILL do your part in raising awareness and funds for the fight against human trafficking.

Now, you can join our mission as either a BTC 200 cyclist or a Gritty Goose Gravel Grinder cyclist to do your tough thing for people in tough places. All we ask that you do is to help create awareness about what we are doing to end human trafficking.

The problem is urgent and we need people willing to speak up. There are 40+ million people entrapped in modern slavery in the US, and a child is exploited for sex trafficking every 2 min (US Dept of Justice). We cannot stand by and let this happen.

AWARENESS drives ACTION, and action drives CHANGE.

By collaborating with Gritty Goose, we are actively growing our team of modern-day abolitionists, and expanding our impact.

Sign up for one of the events, join us in this fight for freedom, and give voice to the issue of human trafficking, while raising funds that help rescue and restore real victims in the U.S. and around the world.

You get to choose which way YOU want to bike for freedom.

Let’s do this!

One Purpose// Change Lives // End Modern Slavery

Pre-Ride

Volunteers for the pre-ride meal are so important for this event both in setting it up and cleaning up afterward. Your contribution helps the participants get much-needed rest the night before they ride.

Setup Crew  – Arrive at 5:30 pm to start setting up the food tables, arranging chairs, and organizing the food as it comes in. Coordinate food, drinks, and tableware prior to the event.

Clean up Crew – Wipe down tables, sweep floors, wipe down the glass at the play area, clean up bathrooms, and empty trash into the dumpsters.

Day of Event

Drivers –  Arrive at the start point by 4:45 am – 5:00 am the day of the event. Drive alongside the riders the entire 200 miles to provide support/safety during the ride. Every 25 miles we will stop for a break and the support crew will set up nutrition for when the riders arrive, then clean up / catch up when the stop is done. You may also be asked to drive people home on Friday night or Saturday if possible.

Ride Nutrition Support – Arrive at 4:45 am – 5:00 am the day of the event. Ride in a support vehicle and help the driver with navigation support and set up nutrition and hydration for riders every 25 miles. See the driver description for more details.
